According to sources, the state's English School Trustees Association (MESTA) has decided to reduce fees by 25 per cent for students studying in English medium schools amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

This has brought about great relief to the students and parents of 18,000 English medium schools in the state. Moreover, MESTA has also decided to provide free education to students who have lost both parents due to the coronavirus.

Due to the pandemic, several citizens have lost their jobs which have greatly affected the economic stability of families. In view of the plight of the common people, English-medium schools have finally decided to reduce the fees by 25 per cent.

On the other hand, in recent developments, reports state that parents are now enrolling their children directly to primary school, skipping pre-primary education. Moreover, a year after schools across the state of Maharashtra halted their education process due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown, preschool education, which caters to students between the ages of two and six years reportedly is the worst hit.

As a result, several preschools, especially the standalone private ones, had to shut down as they could not afford to bear the costs of teachers and the infrastructure due to very low enrolments.
