However, an update published by the Times of India states that the government has given a nod to begin the process of assessing the examination sheets of Standard 10 and 12 board exams. Further, the High Court has also asked the respective departments to announce the results by June 10, 2020.

In our conversation with Varsha Gaikwad, the minister earlier stated that officials were looking at assigning a process for paper correction and were checking if it was feasible for them to arrange one teacher per classroom for the assessment, thereby maintaining social distancing norms in mind. However, the recent update clarifies that the answer sheets will be given to the teachers who can carry them home for correction. In an order released by the Maharashtra state education department, the local civic bodies and district officials have been asked to permit teachers to travel for this work.

The letter sent by Vandana Krishna, Secretary of the School Education Board, asked concerned authorities to ensure the process is conducted in a smooth fashion. Examination papers can be picked up, delivered or sent by post to school and junior college teachers. On the other hand, they can also travel by public transport or their private vehicle to pickup and drop the answer sheets.

TOI states that while the teachers have accepted this process, they have also observed some concerns regarding picking up and delivering the answer sheets, which is casing further delay in the current scenario.

The University Grant Commission (UGC) has also released a set of guidelines for the academic year 2020-21 and a process to conduct pending examinations. Uday Samant, after a recent video conference with the respect officials, stated that the government and Mumbai University will soon announce further details regarding the same and asked students not to worry in this regards.
