With the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government after the Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation, the Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad stepped from her post yesterday, June 30.
As her last on the designation, Gaikwad issued a circular announcing two decisions, which she says are “close to her heart”.

In an official statement released, Gaikwad mentioned the introduction of “Happiness Curriculam” in all government and aided Marathi medium schools for Class 1 to 8.
She also announced a 15 per cent concession in the qualifying marks for defence personnel and families of martyred soldiers in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test, TET.
Both announcements by former Maharashtra School education minister will be implemented in the respective fields.
In the tweet, she further stated: “Protecting the country is the greatest service to the nation. It is our duty to stand by them and their families. Moreover, along with the physical well-being, students’ mental well-being will also be ensured under this curriculum This will help students to connect more to their surroundings.”
Sharing a heartfelt message on social media, Gaikwad wrote: “It was an honour to serve Maharashtra as the School Education minister these past 2.5 years. I am glad we could take steps to better a child's school going experience in the state.”
The minister thanked the Congress leadership, MVA and the people of the state for the opportunity of serving as education minister.
