Along with medical courses, IIT Bombay is also planning to introduce other courses from different disciplines

Medical research could soon be an option for the students in Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Bombay as IIT-B Director Dr. Devang Khakkar initiated an idea to develop medical research education at the institute. 

Ministry of Human Resource Development has given special status to IIT Bombay and for the next five years, the institute will work towards providing research and joint education for various subjects.

With an investment of ₹400 crore planned, IIT-B will now offer different postgraduate courses for the students including Mathematics, Biology, Management Subjects, History, Political Science, Film Making and more. Also, 150 teachers will be recruited to teach these courses. 

Dr. Khakkar informed that as the medical education is being initiated in the institute, students will be able to pursue Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). “We are in talk with some hospitals and are planning regarding medical courses,” Dr. Khakkar further said.
