Observing the rise in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, the state government of Maharashtra has decided that the Medical examinations which were scheduled from April 19, 2021, will now be postponed. Revised dates have not been announced yet.

Information regarding the same was shared by State Medical Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Deshmukh, who added that as per the current plan, the exams will be held in June, and this decision was taken keeping the COVID-19 safety aspects in mind. The detailed schedule for the exam will be announced soon.

Minister Deshmukh took to Twitter to announce the same and mentioned that the new dates in June will be announced after discussions are held with Maharashtra's Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The announcement  will be made by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

Meanwhile,  a few weeks back, Varsha Gaikwad took to Twitter to announce that the state board students from classes 1-9 and 11 will be promoted to the next grade without assessments. However, exams for the Class 10 and 12 state board students, i.e. Maharashtra SSC and HSC board exams, will be held. Currently, they are being postponed due to the coronavirus spread, but the new dates will be announced soon. Exams in Maharashtra will not be cancelled at this point.

However, the CBSE on April 14, 2021, cancelled the exams for class 10 students and postponed the same for Class 12 students.

Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have increased exponentially and the state government is taking strict measures to curb the second wave of COVID-19. CM Uddhav Thackeray, on April 13, 2021, while addressing the state, announced a state-wide curfew by imposing Sec 144 from April 14, 2021 to May 1, 2021. This will be implemented from 7am to 8pm, whereby only essential services will be allowed to function. All other public activities will remain prohibited.
