According to the latest reports, offline examinations will return to undergraduate and postgraduate university exams at the University of Mumbai. On Thursday, February 10, a statement was released that the majority of the undergraduate and postgraduate course exams will be held in person, while most of the Allowed-To-Keep-Term exams will be held online.

The last time Mumbai University held offline exams was in winter 2019. Based on accounts, post a meeting between prominent members of the board of examination, the statement was released that read all undergraduate and postgraduate exams for all three streams’ session two regular as well as backlog exams will be held offline.

The statement also added that the backlog exams for semesters 1, 3 and 5 and semester 4 for regular and backlog students will be held online. In the case of the semester, the status of student vaccination and orders from the state government is awaited before taking a final decision.

Vinod Patil, director of the board of examination and evaluation (BoEE), MU was quoted by narratives elaborating on how since certain parts of Maharashtra continue to face agitations by state transport organizations, the decision on offline exams for final year undergraduate students will be taken on or prior to March 1.

Patil added that a comprehensive circular in the same regard will be issued soon. The statement, reportedly elucidated postgraduate, semester 2 and 4 for regular and backlog exams will be held offline, while backlog exams for semester 1 and 3 will be held online for all three streams.

It has been reported that the statement also highlighted that offline exams for postgraduate pupils will comprise 50 per cent multiple choice questions and 50 per cent descriptive type questions.

On the other hand, that exams for professional courses including management, engineering, architecture, pharmacy and law and MCA will be conducted in offline mode. Similarly, semesters 1-4 of Management Science department exams, regular and backlog, will be held in person.
