In recent developments, the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (MSCERT) has come up with a set of guidelines for promoting students of Classes 1 to 8 in state board schools.

According to reports, with regards to cases where assessments of students have taken place throughout the year, the scores in such assessments need to be calculated out of 100 marks and a grade has to be determined on the basis of the score. However, students who have not been able to complete their assessments due to any reason should also be promoted with a remark “promoted under section 16 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009”.

On the other hand, students who secure lower grades after the overall evaluation should undergo a training process. Similarly, schools should not conduct any assessments or exams to assess the performance of students of Classes 1 to 8 this year due to the pandemic and the resultant lockdown.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has clarified that there will be no change in the schedule of the MPSC examination. Moreover, the examination will be conducted with due diligence and adherence to the rules amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In view of the stringent restrictions and the weekend lockdown across the state of Maharashtra, the examinations are to held on Sunday, April 11, as per the schedule. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission's Secondary Service Non-Gazetted Group-B joint pre-examination on April 11 was earlier facing uncertainty. However, the commission has clarified that the examination will be held as per the schedule.

According to reports, the state government has further asserted that the students will be allowed to travel to the exam centres and return home during curfew by showing admit card/hall ticket of the exams.
