Amid the confusion relating to the examination dates for the final semester examination dates of Mumbai University’s five-and three-year BLS LLB courses, students of some city law colleges have written a letter voicing their concerns to Mumbai suburban guardian minister, Aaditya Thackeray and Maharashtra minister for higher and technical education, Uday Samant.

In the letter dated April 26, students highlight that in accordance with the circular issued by the University of Mumbai on March 2, the schedule of various exams was proclaimed.

The circular, the students say, elaborated on how the final year law exams were to take place from May 17. However, no timetable to endorse the same has been made.

The students further elucidate their grievances on how on Tuesday, Samant tweeted that the exams would now be held between June 1 to July 15. Like earlier, there hasn’t been any circular from Mumbai University to validate this proclamation.

Through the letter, the pupils bring to light that the decision to postpone the exams would have detrimental effects on their future career decisions. They mention that the postponing of final year law examinations would adversely impact pupils looking at further study options.

In addition, pupils voiced their discontent on the negative ramifications the delay will have on the commencement date of joining workplaces, postgraduate exams like the CLAT and AILET as well as cause delays in acquiring the “Sanad”.

With these difficulties stated, the students have urged Mumbai University to hold the final year exams prior to the end of May. They hope that the final examinations are conducted per the March 2 circular.

On the other hand, sources say, that Samant is slated to meet student representatives from the concerned law educational institutions on Thursday to address their concerns.
