Mumbai University (MU) has declared a holiday for all its affiliated colleges on Thursday (July 27) following the forecast of heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane and Konkan regions.


The university has also postponed 15 examinations that were to be held on Thursday. January-semester exams for first- and second-year students of MU's Institute of Open and Distance Learning (IDOL) have also been postponed.


The university has not yet announced the alternate schedule for these papers.

IMD declares red alert for Mumbai
In its five-day forecast, the IMD has said the intensity of rain is expected to reduce at isolated places during the next two days.

Initially a yellow alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for Friday, July 27, which was later changed to red alert. Schools and colleges were given holiday.
