Three primary teachers will be conferred with awards at the hands of the President of India on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. These three teachers are among 350 from across the country.

56-year-old Trupti Hatiskar is an assistant teacher at Prabhadevi’s BMC Marathi School who will be getting an award. Though she is a dropout, she has spent 32 years of her life teaching students. She stopped attending school in class V for her younger siblings but at the same time, it was very sad for her to watch children going to school in uniform. She is elated for getting an award and is thankful to her family, principal and civic authorities for the support she got. She will be going to Delhi with her daughter to receive the award.

Another awardee is 51-year-old Nagorao Tayade who has been a teacher for the last 27 years and works as an assistant teacher at Municipal Upper Primary Marathi School No 2, Ghatkopar. He also gives free coaching to tribal students in Palghar. He believes working relentlessly for the students will help them receive the best education.

The third awardee is 48-year-old Kankana Chandra, who is a teacher of EVS and mathematics at Atomic Energy Central School-2 at Anushakti Nagar. In 1992, Chandra started teaching and is associated with several NGOs.

On September 5, three teachers will receive INR 50,000 from the President.
