Mumbai University’s Garware Institute of Career Education and Development has launched six new courses. They are short-term elective programs worth two credits and a certificate.
The courses offered are in wealth management, retail banking, Python programming, mutual fund distribution, data science fundamentals, and data science intermediate.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate students from any field are eligible to join. These programs are designed to provide practical industry-related knowledge to students. They are also in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The courses would also include real-world challenges to give students hands-on experience. Each course includes 30 hours of online instruction. After this, students will be assessed through both internal and external examinations.
The external examination will involve a written test, while the internal assessment will consist of quizzes, scenario-based evaluations, or working on real projects with industry professionals.
To offer these programs smoothly, the institute has partnered with an online learning platform. The courses will reportedly be led by experienced professionals active in their respective industries. This will give students training that matches industry demands.
In addition to these six courses, Mumbai University also introduced a one-week short course for university professors on September 4. The course is on world culture and civilization and will cover ancient cultures such as Lithuania, Slovakia, Romania, and Persia.
Scholars from various departments will teach the course. This program was developed in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology, the UGC-Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, the Hindu Studies Centre, and the International Centre for Cultural Studies.
