The Mumbai University Senate election, which has been discussed in Mumbai for the past few days, has been postponed overnight. August 18 was the last date for submission of applications. Next month, the voting will be held on September 10 and the results will be announced on September 13. Discussion in political circles
Meanwhile, there is a big discussion about this election in the political circles of Mumbai. All the student organisations were gearing up for the elections. Thackeray group's Yuva Sena and MNS's Vidyarthi Sena had made vigorous efforts for voter registration. It was also said that this match will be a direct match between these two organisations. Therefore, after the split between Shiv Sena and NCP, it was predicted that in this very first election to be held in Mumbai, there will be a direct fight between these two organisations and their leaders, i.e. Aaditya Thackeray and Amit Thackeray.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Vidyarthi Sena president  Amit Thackeray took to Twitter and questioned the decision of postponing the election. He wrote, "Why was the Mumbai University Graduate Senate Election postponed 'overnight' yesterday?"

Thackeray also wrote to Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais asking about the decision.

Election postponed as per government instructions

It has been mentioned in the circular issued by Mumbai University that these elections have been postponed as per the decision of the government. Mumbai University Administration Committee has said that this election has been postponed as per the instructions received from the state government on August 17, 2023. Therefore, it has been said in this letter that the election is being postponed till further orders.

There was a discussion that Yuvsena's Thackeray faction had taken the lead in voter registration. Yuva Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena were going to fill applications for ten out of ten seats in a show of strength at the Fort Complex of Mumbai University. Chhatra Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sangathan had decided to file nominations for five seats in the reserved category and two in the open category. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad sponsored University Development Forum had announced that the nominations had been filed for all the seats. But there was ambiguity about the role of the Shinde group in all this.
