On Monday, August 17, the third merit list for degree college admissions was issued in Mumbai. However, unlike last year, many seats were vacant in the third list for prestigious colleges in the city.

Moreover, the students can secure admissions until August 21. While Jai Hind College has come up with a cut off 93 per cent for the BA courses, it has come down to 87 per cent for the Commerce whereas the BSc cut-off is 50 per cent.

However, like last year, at St Xavier’s College, there was no third list for BA and BSc (IT) courses. But in Commerce, the third list cut-off is 44 per cent for students of HSC board and 88.4 per cent for students of other boards.

The students who have adequate cut-off marks will have to get their documents verified after which seats will be given on the basis of merit.

MU had earlier released the first merit list on August 6 whereas the second merit list was released on August 11. This year around 3.3 lakh students have registered and 6.2 lakh applications have been filled.

As per reports, traditional courses like bachelor of science (BSc) and a bachelor of science in information technology (BSc-IT) or computer science (BSc-CS) have received more applications this year across several colleges compared to humanities or commerce courses.
