Officials have floated the tender for 1300 classrooms, and the meeting for the initial pre-bid process was conducted on July 20, 2020. Nearly 65 service providers participated in the meeting, and the attendees included contractors, market leaders and other officials.

Estimates state that INR 2.83 lakh will be the cost of a smart board and INR 24,780 will be used to install content on these devices. An Intel 3 device with 4GB of RAM and 50 GB of in-built memory will be installed in the smartboard. Additional costs will be used for electrical fittings, and the total cost has been calculated as INR 38 crores.

Indian Express shared a statement from the tender which read, “The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation intends to create digital classrooms in various municipal schools for interactive education. The digital classrooms shall have an interactive panel (smartboard) preloaded with software containing the Maharashtra State Board’s syllabus on all subjects from class I and class X, games, audiovisual and PowerPoint presentation slides and quizzes.”
