The registration for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 exams has started as the National Testing Agency (NTA) opened the online application process at 4:00 pm on December 2. NTA is the conducting body of NEET 2020 exam and they have begun online applications on the official exam portal i.e. ntaneet.nic.in.

The interested candidates have been asked to complete the registration process at the earliest to avoid last-minute hassles. Here's all you need to know about the application process:

Sole MBBS / Medical Entrance Test across the country

Starting this year, NEET 2020 has become the single entrance test for securing admission in undergraduate medical programmes i.e. MBBS and BDS in India. Earlier, the students had to appear for different entrance tests in different medical institutes like AIIMS and PIGMER but from 2020-21 academic session, HRD ministry has prescribed only a single medical entrance test for all the institutes.

Eligibility Criteria

According to the official notification, candidates need to qualify the following eligibility criteria in order to appear for NEET 2020 exam:

  • Only Indian nationals can appear for the NEET exam
  • Applicant needs to have completed 10+2 or must be appearing for 10+2 exam this year
  • Applicants must have a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology at 10+2 level. They should also have Mathematics and an elective subject along with English at 10+2 level.

Meanwhile, NTA has hiked the application fee for NEET 2020 medical entrance exam. According to the notification, there has been an increase of five to seven per cent in the NEET 2020 application fee.
