Now, non-state schools have announced early summer holidays due to the ongoing heat wave.  However, the response of different academic boards has been varied, leading to confusion and concern among parents.

Most boards, except for state board schools, were supposed to start their wards' summer vacations on April 29. But, the state board announced holidays starting on April 15 due to high temperatures across Maharashtra. The ICSE, CBSE, and IB boards have followed the lead and also announced early summer holidays.

This decision has come as a relief to parents who were concerned about the well-being of their children amid the rising scorching heat. The heatwave-like conditions have also raised health concerns, as a paediatrician in the city has reported a constant stream of children coming to their clinic due to the severe weather. The paediatrician advised people to avoid being outside between 10 am and 4 pm and to take necessary precautions to prevent getting sick.

While some schools have chosen to alter the start time of classes, others have opted for early summer holidays. The school administration has changed the time for school dismissal from 1.30 pm to 12.15 pm, which has led to concerns among parents as kids still have to spend a lot of time sitting inside the non-AC buses.

Before, it was believed that the government resolution would apply to all boards, but representatives from the education department. Other boards' academic calendars are not determined by the state, and the government's decision to impose summer vacations early cannot be implemented on those boards. Other boards are free to follow the resolution or not, according to their discretion.
