A student of Law Faculty of Mumbai University has been found absent on the result sheet despite having appeared in the examination of the subject 'Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act' in the fifth semester. Also, after submitting the attendance sheet at the examination center and the admit card signed by the invigilator to the university, the concerned student has been given zero marks on the revised result sheet.


The third year law faculty (three year course) fifth semester examination was conducted from December 5 to 14 by the University of Mumbai under the academic year 2023-24. The examination of the subject 'Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act' was conducted on December 5, 2023. The result of this fifth session exam was declared online on February 21, 2024.

But Dr. Sunil Jatania, a student, was shown absent in the subject 'Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act'. Dr Jatania then submitted the examination center attendance sheet and the admit card signed by the invigilator to the Board of Examinations and Evaluation of the University. Accordingly, the revised result was declared on March 24, 2024, in which Dr. Jatania was shown zero marks in the relevant subject. An application has also been made to obtain a photocopy of the answer sheet of the relevant subject and for revaluation. But still they have not received the photocopy of the answer sheet and they are also waiting for the revaluation result.


There is no solution even by giving the documents

Correspondence and related documents have not been resolved. I have been given zero marks for absence. Dr. Sunil Jatania responded that Mumbai University administration cannot play with students' careers. The Mumbai University administration is looking into the case of the law student. The Board of Examinations and Evaluation of Mumbai University informed that the decision will be taken after checking all the technical aspects.
