Now teachers will assess Mumbai University papers online and get paid weekly
Once registered on the assessment software, each teacher’s work will be recorded online and weekly payments will be made so teachers don’t face difficulties seeking remuneration for assessment for papers
Mumbai University is planning to give a weekly remuneration to teachers, encouraging them to register for assessment of papers online. This plan will make it possible for the teachers to receive their payments online within seven days.
A teacher said that seeking remuneration for assessment was very taxing for teachers as it involved a lot of paperwork. It would also take months or even a year for the payment to clear.
All the answer booklets are being assessed online via the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system now, this being the second semester in a row.
Now, the University will no longer follow the lengthy process of submitting information on their assessment along with attendance sheets from colleges where they assessed the papers.
Arjun Ghatule, acting director, board of examination and evaluation, MU stated that each teacher’s work will be recorded online and weekly payments will be made so teachers don’t have to wait for months anymore, once registered on the assessment software.
The Principal of a South Mumbai college said that online payment is the best way forward and now that the university has finally opted for it, the teachers need not submit different papers to get what they rightfully deserve. Last year, the university doubled the remuneration amount per answer booklet — from ₹8 to ₹16 — for each 100-mark paper due to the same.
