Sharvin Carvalho, a third year MBBS student at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Thane Municipal Corporation, has received a scholarship for research and has been selected among the top 10 research papers in the country.

A nationwide competition for the IAP - ICP Research Scholarship 2022 was held in association with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics and Indian College of Paediatrics, the apex national level paediatrics institutes. This competition is held every year to increase research scholarship among MBBS students. This year more than 700 research papers were submitted by MBBS students. From it, the final 10 research papers are selected for the research course through a selection test with a very high and difficult level of difficulty. In it, the thesis of Sharvin Carvalho, a third year MBBS student at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, has been selected.

Sherwin's paper is titled 'Use of neonatal cord blood components for retrospective diagnosis of neonatal infections.' For this thesis Dr. Head of Department of Biochemistry in Rajiv Gandhi Medical College. Mohit Rojekar guided Sharwin. Also, the founder of the school Dr. Rakesh Barot, Dr. Swati Ghangurde, Dr. Sunil Junagade, Dr. Jayesh Panot, Dr. Jayanarayan Senapati also contributed to it.


Students also excelled in 'Invention'

The students of Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Vatsal Jain and Shivani Nirgudkar have won first and second prize respectively in the category of medicine and pharmacy in the state level research competition 'Avishkar' conducted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.          


These students completed the research project under the guidance of Dr. Mohit Rojekar. Dr. Tushar Bagle, Dr. Rohankumar Hire, Dr. Rajeshwar Pate, Dr. Prachi Gholap and Dr. Professor Swati Ghangurde also got guidance. These students also participated in the inter-university level research festival of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
