In the midst of the coronavirus, students who have appeared for their SSC, which is basically the class 10 board exams, will be given average scores for their last paper. Their last paper happened to be geography which was cancelled as a result of COVID-19. The scores of the other five papers would be used to draw an average score for the paper.

Shakuntala Kale, the Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Board stated to the media that the committee that was constituted to make the decision on the impending issue has decided to allot average scores to students for their paper in geography.

To ensure relief to nearly 17 lakh students in the state, the education department had announced to cancel the final paper for SSC, Geography, which was earlier scheduled to take place on March 23. This was cancelled owing to the lockdown. So far, there has been no clarity about when the board would declare results of the SSC and HSC exams. As per reports, an official from the education department stated that they are likely to be declared by the second week of June.

In other news, the examination panel in Mumbai has met affiliated colleges along with the head of the departments over a virtual conference. This is to ensure the planning of dates and schedule of the upcoming exams of the final year of Mumbai University. It was earlier declared that the final year students will be appearing for their ultimate semesters in July. Vice-chancellor Suhas Pednekar held a meeting with over 850 colleges affiliated with the Mumbai University. The meeting covered all the topics ensuring the smooth grading of the Mumbai University which included, internal assessments, ATKT, paper marking scheme and also how the examinations will be conducted during the pandemic to safeguard the people appearing for the examinations.
