The third merit list for First Year Junior College (FYJC) in Mumbai division was announced on Tuesday, December 15. It was observed that the cut-offs of junior colleges continued to remain high.

Out of 1,16,080 applications, around 45,402 students have been allotted seats in the third list, with only 6,179 students getting their first preference.

However, a total of 1,19,171 seats were available in the Mumbai division for the third merit list of FYJC, excluding the quota. Students who have been allotted seats in the third merit list can secure their admission online in the respective colleges from till 5 pm on December 18.

45,402 students got allotment in the third merit list. Out of these 42,366 are from the State Board. While 1,289 students are from ICSE and remaining 1,136 students are of CBSE.

While cut-offs for the science stream has a marginal dip, those for commerce and arts mostly remained the same or increased marginally. However, the junior colleges have stated that less number of students were allocated seats in both second and third merit round compared to the first round.

The cut-offs stood at 94.2 per cent for Science, 94 per cent for Commerce and 90.8 per cent for Arts at VG Vaze Kelkar College, Mulund. It is 88.6 per cent for Science at St Xavier's College, Fort. Meanwhile, it is 92.6 per cent for Commerce, 92.4 per cent for Arts and 88.8 per cent for Science at Jai Hind College, Churchgate.

Moreover, in the third merit round, out of 45,402 students, 28,839 students have been allotted seats under Commerce, 12,453 under Science, 3,908 under Arts and 202 under HSVC (Vocational) stream for FYJC. A total of 1,19,171 vacant seats available for the third merit round in 844 junior colleges in Mumbai region, according to the state School Education Department.
