On Thursday, May 20, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal is reportedly to hold a virtual meeting with directors of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Science (IIS), and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER).

According to reports, the Union Minister plans to discuss COVID-19 management, online learning, and the status of implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) during the virtual meeting.

Earlier on May 17, the Union Education Minister held a key meeting with the Education Secretaries of all states. However, several students remained disappointed as Pokhriyal made no announcements with regards to the class 12 examinations.

Therefore, it is still unclear whether the examinations will be dismissed. Meanwhile, last week, the Education Ministry had shared that the decision on CBSE exams is expected by May 24. Moreover, the CBSE had also informed that no decision has been taken as yet and once confirmed, the same would be duly notified to the public.

Furthermore, due to the pandemic, the common admission process for central universities, postponement of school exams, are all in limbo with the government delaying a concrete decision regarding the same. According to reports, a government panel of vice-chancellors had submitted its report in April, supporting a common entrance exam for undergraduate courses, and a similar process for postgraduate courses at the more than 40 central universities.
