The Central Health Ministry has announced new guidelines for allowing teaching in classrooms. The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey via Twitter.

The standard operating procedure (SOP) was announced by the ministry for higher education as well as skill training institutes pertaining to lab work. These activities will be allowed from September 21. The guidelines mention the need for adequate social distancing by making sure the desks/chairs have a distance of at least six feet from each other.

These SOPs are in line with the Home Ministry’s Unlock 4.0 guidelines that were announced on September 1. Following this, the Health Ministry had announced SOPs for a partial reopening of schools for students of class 9 to 12 to help students seek guidance from the teaching faculty.

It was said at the time that this would be implemented on a voluntary basis and only if they’re outside a containment zone. As previously stated by the ministry, this will be allowed only after the student attains written approval from a parent or guardian.
