As the state government has decided to resume residential facilities at a 100 per cent capacity, instructions have been issued in order to strictly implement various measures that are to be undertaken in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

An SOP has been prepared as per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health, Union Ministry of Tourism, WHO, UNWTO regarding the same for the hotels, resorts, home-stays, B&B (bed and breakfast), farm stays, etc. in areas other than the containment zones in the state.

According to the SOP, hotels and resorts should check the temperature of the people using thermal guns etc. Only tourists and passengers with no symptoms should be admitted. Social distancing should be observed while providing services as well as in waiting rooms.

Moreover, it is mandatory for passengers to wear a mask. Hand sanitizer is also to be kept in all the necessary places. Proper care should be taken while handling the currency. Also, the exchange of currency through the digital medium should be encouraged. The SOP further stated that the vehicles used to transport tourists staying in hotels and resorts should be cleaned at all times. The health-related information about the travel history, health history etc. of the tourists should be filled online before check-in. If possible, things like auto check-in should be initiated from a system like QR code.

Furthermore, visitors should be given information on dos and don'ts in the form of booklets or videos. Visitors should bring up their own luggage if possible. If there is more than one elevator, different elevators should be used to go up and down to avoid face-to-face contact with the other visitors. Moreover, room service should be contactless.

Principal secretary of Tourism Valsa Nair Singh had earlier circulated these guidelines to prominent hotel associations and a webinar was also conducted to brief them about the same.
