In order to participate in the democratic process, many Bollywood celebrities and stars were spotted at various polling stations across Mumbai. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections concluded in the city on April 29 and several celebrities interacted with the media, expressing their views after voting. However, film star Akshay Kumar was not seen at any polling station.

While talking to the media, Akshay Kumar witnessed an awkward moment after a reporter pointed out that he didn’t vote in the 2019 LS polls. After listening to the same, Kumar vaguely replied, “Chaliye Beta” and ended his interaction with the media persons.

Recently, the Bollywood star was heavily trolled and criticised after his “non-political” interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People on social media platforms such as Twitter pointed out that Kumar didn’t vote because he is a Canadian citizen. However, Kumar has never talked about the same in public.

Earlier, PM Modi had appealed to the celebrities on Twitter to encourage the commoners to vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. In a series of tweets by PM Modi, Kumar was also tagged in one of them. Kumar had replied to the PM saying that the true hallmark of a democracy lies in people participating in the electoral process.
