Mumbai sessions court sentenced Kamini Shewale, wife of incumbent Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale, and 17 others jail time for one year. In an incident where a police constable was seriously injured, the court convicted Shewale and 17 Shiv Sena workers of unlawful assembly. 

While hearing the case, Sessions court Judge DK Gudadhe convicted all accused including Shewale under sections 149 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, the court acquitted all accused from serious charges including 307 (attempt to murder) and 147 (Punishment for rioting).  

Earlier, ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Police-constable Vikas Thorbole was injured while discharging his duty where he suffered serious injuries amid the clash between Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers.     

In a statement, Thorbole mentioned that he was attacked with a hockey stick by a group of people. Later, an FIR was filed against 18 people including Kamini Shewale under section 149 and 427 of the IPC and other serious charges including section 307 and 147.

As this happened, the Bombay High Court granted bail to all accused in this case after they appealed to the HC for the same.
