Who doesn't remember the iconic character 'Jassifrom 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' essayed by the versatile actress Mona Singh. Mona has always entertained the audience through her uncommon gestures with each character she essayed on the television and continues doing so on the web platforms too. After portraying a spectacular role in Alt Balaji’s 'Kehne Ko Hai Humsafar', the actress will now be seen revisiting the 90’s era with TVF’s web show 'Yeh Meri Family'.

In an exclusive interactive session with Mumbai Live, conversing about the TVF platform Mona said, “TVF people are not only professionals but they are passionate about what they are doing and that is something exciting because work doesn’t seem to be like work when you are passionate about your efforts. That is what I have always felt as an actor when you are doing what you really enjoy, then you are not actually working, you are working towards your dreams and that is what TVF is all about. They concentrate a lot on writing, which most of the people forget about and also there is a lot of relatability in their work.”

Talking about the groundwork for ‘Yeh Meri Family’ she averred, “We used to have many workshops, especially as there were kids in the show so we did a lot of reading, it didn’t feel new to us. We never concentrated on memorising our lines. I think there is a huge difference between digital content and TV. There are no workshops in TV, no scripts ready, you as an actor go on the set and everything is just impromptu.”

While conversing about the 90’s show, the actress also mentioned that if this content would have been telecasted on TV, it wouldn’t have worked for more than two months. “See it is very sad! Because TV used to be very bold and progressive and by bold I mean concepts. We had shows like Malgudi Days, Buniyaad and Waghle Ki Duniya, Tara, such brilliant and bold concepts, so why this change has come now I really don’t understand. However, I don’t want to be a part of this. I want to be a part of something which you can relate to and watch. I am hopeful those days will come back again, but till the time they don’t, I am staying away."

Reviving her old memories, the actress averred, “My memories really got refreshed with the show because we all have been through that 90’s era. Twenty years ago we used to play games like Pitthu, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Hide and seek, etc whereas today’s kids really don’t know about all that. They discuss games on their phones, What’s your score? Which level? It’s different. So this is an opportunity for the parents to show their kids what they used to do in the earlier days.”

With ‘Yeh Meri Family’, TVF is trying to change its distinctiveness from being youth-oriented to a family entertainer. The platform wants families to come together and watch the shows.

The actress feels that this is a beautiful thought as people can consume content with their kids without being ashamed of anything. “I think web is the best platform not only for the producers but also for actors who are waiting for something good to happen to them. Actors who are never satisfied with what they do, who are always greedy for good roles will be the happiest now because this is the time to showcase their talent and I am loving it”, said Mona elaborating more about digital space.
