Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan to be aired on TV again; here's when and where to watch

Amid the coronavirus (covid-19) lockdown, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar took to Twitter to announce the same. The show will be aired on Doordarshan from March 28, 2020, twice in a day at 9:00 am and 9:00 pm

For most of us from the 80s, Ramayana - show produced by Ramanand Sagar, telecast on Doordarshan, was a must watch and a part of appointment-viewing, every Sunday. The show left a massive impact on many across the country,  that actors - Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri - were believed to be real gods. The show which won hearts from 1987-1988 will be telecast again on Doordarshan.

Keeping the coronavirus lockdown in mind, many production houses and broadcasters are not able to shoot as per the schedule and keeping the public demand in mind, during the critical situation, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, said that starting Saturday, March 28, Ramayan will be aired on DD National twice a day.

His message on Twitter said, "Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting re-telecast of Ramayan from tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 on DD National. One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm," Mr Javadekar wrote in his tweet. Ramayan, which made stars out of Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri, known to fans as Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman, clocked 33 years of the show this year."

Amid the 21-day lockdown in India, many users on Twitter asked for reruns Ramayan and B R Chopra's Mahabharat. 

The Sagar family made necessary arrangements for the same and the CEO of Prasar Bharati, Shashi Shekhar, took to Twitter to thank them for the content, with a message that read,  "Heartfelt thanks to the Sagar Family for this service to the Nation during this moment who took immense effort to mobilise their resources and made available content to Team @ddnational in Mumbai on a war footing."

He further stated that the team is working on getting many other iconic shows back on Doordarshan. His tweet added, "Stay tuned for more iconic content to come back on Doordarshan over the next few days as you relive the nostalgia while we observe the Lockdown, staying home to save lives."

The actors were recently seen on Sony TV's Kapil Sharma Show where they shared their journey, memorable moments and a lot more.
