Singer Sonu Nigam has filed a complaint against those who manhandled him after his concert in Chembur on Monday night. Singer Sonu Nigam was singing at Chembur festival after which a man named Swapnil Phaterpekar attacked Sonu Nigam for a selfie. Swapnil is allegedly being described as the son of the local MLA.

Rabbani Khan, reportedly the son of corporation guru Ghulam Mustafa Khan and his close aide, as well as the singer's bodyguard, sustained injuries.

Mumbai Police has registered a case for voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint and other sections. The police officer told news agency ANI that Indian Penal Code sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) a case has been registered under the IPC. The police are yet to make any arrest in the matter.


Following the incident, singer Sonu Nigam reached Chembur police station and lodged a complaint, following which the police registered a case. No arrest has been made by the police so far. Talking to the media, Sonu Nigam said that after the concert, he was coming down from the stage when a man caught hold of him and then pushed his colleague Rabbani and bodyguard Hari who came to his rescue. During this, Sonu Nigam fell from the stairs.

Meanwhile, UBT party worker Suprada Phaterpekar took to Twitter and clarified about the incident. She said that due to the rush and furore, commotion ensued. She apologised as well on the behalf of an organisation team.
