Girgaum - The Royal Opera House has thrown open its doors to the public after a gap of 23 years. A nearly eight year long restoration work ended recently and the grand venue was opened again on 20 October 2016, playing host to the opening ceremony of film festival MAMI 2016. Once known as  Girgaum's pride, the iconic building downed shutters in 1993. In its heyday, it played host to performances by stalwarts like  Prithviraj Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar.

The royal family of Gondal finally stepped in to revive the building. Portraits of eminent writers have been painted on the dome-shaped ceiling. Thursday evening saw Bollywood celebs and business bigwigs flocking inside the Opera House.
