On Sunday night, Veteran actor Anupam Shyam, who is known for his role in multiple television shows and films, passed away due to multiple organ failure. .

The 63-year old actor, was more recently known for his role of Thakur Sajjan Singh in the show "Mann Ki Pratigya 2".

Confirming the news, actor Manoj Joshi, tweeted: "Saddened by the demise of my friend and very talented actor Anupam Shyam ji. We have lost a great man. My deepest condolences to his family and friends."

Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2 producer Rajan Shahi said in a statement, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Anupam Shyamji. May his family get all the strength to sail through these difficult times. I remember when we started with Pratigya season 2, he was extremely happy to work again and play his favourite character Sajjan Singh. He was always so lively and full of enthusiasm and will be remembered for his remarkable performances. May his soul rest in peace.”

Producer Ashoke Pandit also confirmed the news of Anupam Shyam's death with a tweet on Sunday night. "Sad to know about the demise of one of the finest actors & a great human being #AnupamShyam due to multiple organ failure. My heartfelt condolences to his family. A great loss to the film & tv industry," he said.

Speaking with ANI, Yashpal Sharma said, "I got to know that he's no more. So we rushed here and found he was still breathing. The doctor later declared him dead. He was hospitalised for 4 days. He had high blood sugar and used to take injections during shooting of his last film."

Manoj Bajpayee, who had worked with the actor in the film Satya, tweeted: "Rest in peace my friend! You loved it fully both as an actor and as a person! Bahut yaad aaoge, Delhi aur Mumbai me bitaye din bhi yaad aayenge ! Jiya achha jiya mere dost, Prabhu tumhari aatma ko shanti de."

The actor wasn't keeping well from the last few years and was also on dialysis.

In 2020, the actor was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and had started his dialysis. Cine And TV Artists Associated (CINTAA) had appealed on behalf of the actor to provide financial help. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced Rs 20 lakh assistance for the treatment of the actor. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood had also come forward for help.

His brother shedding light on the same to an online publication said that he had not been keeping well for a while now.  He had an infection in his kidney and was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital back then. After being hospitalised for a month and a half, he started to get better. However, he was required to get dialysis, from time to time. Since he could afford the regular dialysis, he opted for an ayurvedic treatment. That didn’t help. He got breathless recently. His chest was filled with water and so dialysis was started again, which gave him temporary relief.
