Days after the Maharashtra government announced to reopen the theatres and cinema halls across the state from October 22, the actors, produces and multiplex owners have welcomed the move and expressed their gratitude. Moreover, it has brought a huge relief to both multiplex players and single-screen cinemas.

Welcoming the move, Alok Tandon, CEO, INOX Leisure Limited, said, "We welcome the government of Maharashtra's decision to allow cinemas and multiplexes to reopen from October 22. We are completely geared up and prepared to ensure the safety of our guests and employees. This decision has steered in a lot of cheerfulness, not just for the entire film industry and its audiences, but also for the employees of the cinema exhibition sector, and their families, who have been waiting for this to happen."

“We are also confident that with this much-awaited announcement, content producers would also plan their releases, which should strengthen the Hindi film content pipeline in the months to come and usher in better health for the cinema exhibition industry. With the hugely successful vaccination program and significantly low coronavirus cases, we are optimistic that people will return to cinemas as before and we will witness the same happy emotions in our lobbies."

Veteran Producer Anand Pandit says, "It is absolutely wonderful news that cinemas will be reopening in Maharashtra ahead of Diwali. We have been waiting for this and I am glad that the Govt in its wisdom and decided to reopen theatres. Yes, it will be a big screen Diwali and hopefully will be a blockbuster one. The industry needs this revival and given that Maharashtra is one of the biggest markets, we hope to see the return of audiences to the theatres. What better time to start than Diwali! I honestly don't see too many clashes given that the industry understands that the return of audiences might be slow and it would be best to avoid a situation where the audiences worth get divided."

Actor Akshay Kumar also took to social media to express his gratitude towards Maharashtra CM and shared release news too. "So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi - AA RAHI HAI POLICE. #Sooryavanshi #Diwali2021. @itsrohitshetty @ajaydevgn @ranveersingh @katrinakaif @reliance.entertainment @dharmamovies @tseries.official #CapeOfGoodFilms," read his post.

The entertainment sector, which provides jobs to lakhs of people, has been severely affected since the onset of the pandemic and nationwide lockdown in March last year.
