Mumbai -14th December is a day that marks birthday of famous showman Raj Kapoor. Born at Peshawar in 1924, Ranbir Raj Kapoor took Indian film industry to new heights with his movies like Awara, Shri 420, Barsaat, Premrog and Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Most of his films reflected socialist ideology which was prevalent at that time. He made a team with writer K. A. Abbas, lyricist Shailendra and music director Shankar Jai Kishan and founded R. K studio in Chembur.
Another person who shares this date as his birthday is Shyam Benegal born in 1934. He was one of the pioneers who was part of the new wave cinema movement in India and launched talents like Shabana Azmi (Ankur) and Smita Patil (Charan Das chor). He also made iconic serial Bharat Ek khoj for DD. We remember Raj Kapoor on this day and wish a happy birthday and great life ahead to Shyam Benegal.
