The findings are part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report that analyzed sea-level changes across the globe. The IPCC has published assessments every five to seven years since 1988. It focuses on aspects like greenhouse gas emissions, temperature changes, ice cover, etc.

Scientists utilize data from satellites and other equipment on the ground to predict sea levels in the future. The Sea Level Change Team at NASA has charted sea-level projection tools that offer data on sea-level rise in the future. These tools are also available to the general public.

A recent UN report painted a dire picture of the future saying that the dependency on fossil fuels is leading to unseen levels of warming. The report went on to state that recent incidents of wildfires, floods, and droughts are an indicator of the dire situation.
