Last week, Bluebottle jellyfish also known as 'Portuguese man-of-war' were spotted across the Mumbai beaches that caused panic and fear among the people. In the past two days, 150 people have been attacked by the jellyfish and were left in pain.

These venomous jellyfish were generally seen in Mumbai during the mid-monsoon season. When the long tentacles of jellyfish enter the body of an individual, it causes itching and pain for hours. However, the only respite is that the venomous sting can kill fish but not humans.

One of the shopkeepers said many people have been injured and he helps them by rubbing a lemon when they are stung. Locals said that every year, the jellyfish are seen on the beaches, but this year, they can be spotted in large number.
