After Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that a marine litter policy will be developed, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued tenders with new conditions for the Juhu beach clean-up.

Afroz Shah, who is known for changing the face of Versova beach, opened a lease of life for Juhu beach. Right after Afroz complained about the civic officials not picking up the waste, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a marine litter policy which will bring in 24x7 vigilance on contractors who will clean up Juhu beach. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued tenders for the same.

These tenders will be issued considering the suggestions of Juhu Residents Association and it is supposed to be the first-of-its-kind tender which will be made with the help of residents.

Additional municipal commissioner Vijay Singhal, who is in charge of the solid waste management department said that once the tender is finalised, it will be submitted to the standing committee.

BMC officials added that the contractor will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness on the beach for which they will have to use different machines for dry and monsoon season.
