Mumbai will soon offer a unique ecotourism experience with the nearing completion of Mangrove Park in Dahisar.

The state forest department's mangrove conservation cell has released a tender worth INR 45.78 crore for the establishment of this park. The park, spread over 200 acres of mangroves, is expected to be completed in two years.

The mangrove preservation cell is leading this project to conserve the remaining mangroves in Dahisar, the last suburb of Mumbai. The park will feature a wildlife interpretation centre and a boardwalk, providing visitors with literature on birds, their behaviour, and habitat.

The park will also house a suspended glass bridge and a mangrove museum, both of which are nearing completion. It will also feature a 5,100-square-meter Nature Interpretive Centre (NIC), accessible by boat from the Gorai Jetty or via Link Road. The success of the park is closely tied to the Dahisar River Rejuvenation Project.

The park has been allocated a budget of INR 23.63 crore. The city's Development Plan (DP-2034) has earmarked eighty hectares of "natural area" lands for similar projects.

The park will also include a 1,517-square-meter environmental conservation and interpretation centre aimed at educating visitors about the importance of mangroves and their surrounding ecosystems. A key feature of the park is the 700-metre-long, 2.5-metre-wide wooden boardwalk/mangrove trail.
