According to sources, a total of 2,060 houses have been partially damaged and 12 houses have been completely damaged in the district.

In recent developments, Cyclone Tauktae is said to have caused a loss of INR 5,77,45,117 in the Sindhudurg district. Moreover, these losses are likely to increase further.

According to sources, a total of 2,060 houses have been partially damaged and 12 houses have been completely damaged in the district. In addition, 139 barns, 19 schools, 11 government buildings, 13 sheds, 4 halls and 53 other places were partially damaged whereas 782 electric poles have been partially damaged, and 98 poles completely damaged. With regards to power lines, 305 power lines have been partially damaged and 1 power line has been completely damaged.

Meanwhile, the rainfall figures for the districts are as follows, Mandangad 52 mm, Dapoli 82 mm, Khed 49 mm, Guhagar 120 mm, Chiplun 100 mm, Sangameshwar 142 mm, Ratnagiri 274 mm, Rajapur 208 mm, 162 mm rainfall.

Furthermore, as many as 13,389 people from Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Raigad, Thane and Palghar districts were evacuated to safer places in view of the cyclonic storm. Moreover, 4,563 people from Ratnagiri district, 190 from Sindhudurg district, 8,383 from Raigad district, 53 from Thane district and 200 from Palghar district were also evacuated.

On the other hand, the cyclone has added to the woes of the states which are currently grappling with the second wave of the coronavirus, and the spike in COVID-19 cases. According to reports, the Centre has given an array of instructions to the states in order to make sure that the health facilities do not suffer and medical supplies are maintained.
