Holi festival is a festival of colours but it also poses danger to the environment when people play Holi with water balloons made up of plastic bags. BMC has prohibited the use of plastic bags less than 50 microns but the same is used fearlessly during Holi festival. Environment expert Sharad Yadav blames BMC for overlooking the use of plastic bags during Holi festival. According to Yadav, these plastic bags clog the nullahs and deface the city.

“BMC officials should take strict action against those who sell plastic bags less than 50 microns and those who sell artificial harmful colours. They should carry out a raid and should seize things which are harmful to the environment and people,” said Sharad Yadav, environment expert.
