Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds caused widespread disruption across parts of Thane district, leading to multiple incidents of tree collapses and damage to vehicles and residential properties.
According to civic and disaster management officials, several complaints related to fallen trees and large branches were reported from different parts of the city following the intense monsoon showers. In a number of incidents, uprooted trees fell on parked vehicles, causing significant damage. Some residential structures also suffered damage due to falling trees and debris.
Authorities said emergency response teams were immediately deployed to clear roads, remove fallen trees, and restore normal traffic movement. Civic workers and disaster management personnel worked through the night to address complaints and prevent further disruptions.
The heavy rainfall also impacted traffic movement in several areas, with waterlogging and blocked roads slowing vehicular movement. Officials urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall, and report any emergencies to civic authorities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including Thane, over the next few days. Residents have been advised to stay alert as strong winds and heavy showers may lead to additional incidents of tree falls and localized flooding.
While no major casualties were reported, authorities said assessments of property damage were ongoing and assistance would be provided wherever required. Civic officials have appealed to citizens to follow weather advisories and cooperate with emergency services during the monsoon season.
