The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in Palghar district and extremely heavy rainfall in Mumbai. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in this area in the next 24 to 48 hours. The maximum rainfall is expected in the suburbs of Mumbai during this period. The intensity of the rain will be higher in these areas.
The regional meteorological department has issued a red alert for Palghar and an orange alert for Mumbai, indicating that the highest rainfall is likely in the suburbs.
Along with this, the Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rains in the districts of Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. In this backdrop, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the citizens to step out of their homes only if necessary. Due to the heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs, there is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas.

A high wave warning has been issued for the coastal areas of Thane, Mumbai Suburban, Mumbai City, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg. This warning is in effect until 11.30 pm tonight. During this period, waves of 3.5 to 3.8 meters high are likely to hit the coast. Meanwhile, a warning has been issued for small boats not to venture into the sea. Tourists have been stopped from the coastal areas, according to the State Emergency Operation Center.
Raigad district has received heavy rains in the last 24 hours. The rains are continuing on June 19. As a result, holidays have been declared for all schools and colleges in five talukas of Raigad district - Alibaug, Roha, Tala, Mahad and Poladpur.
The District Collector has announced this. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure as the Kundalika river has crossed the warning level.
