As much as 273 mm of rain has been recorded in Badlapur city in the last 24 hours. This is the highest recorded in Thane district. Below that, 257 mm of rain was recorded in Bhiwandi, 231 mm in Mumbra city and 206 mm in Thane city. If similar rainfall occurs till Friday, it is likely to surpass the average for the month of June.
Monsoon rains have been lashing the state for the past few days. The rain that started last week is falling everywhere. There has been continuous rain in Thane district for the past five days. The rains that started late in June had caused water concerns. Badlapur city in Thane district has recorded the highest rainfall of 273 mm in the last 24 hours. 257 mm of rain has been recorded in Bhiwandi below Badlapur, 231 mm in Mumbra town. Thane city recorded 206 mm of rain. Due to the continuous rain that fell throughout the day on Wednesday, the roads were waterlogged at various places. Abhijit Modak, a private meteorologist, has expressed the possibility of exceeding the average rainfall for the month of June if this rain continues till Friday.
