The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted excessive heat in Maharashtra from April to June. Meanwhile, according to the IMD forecast, the temperature in Mumbai is likely to rise in the next five days. 

The regional forecast for Mumbai city and its suburbs for the next 24 to 48 hours calls for mainly clear skies, maximum temperature around 35°C and minimum temperature of 24°C to 25°C.

IMD chief Sunil Kamble while giving relief to the citizens said, "Mumbai's temperature is likely to increase by 1-2 degrees in the next four days. However, the heat wave is not severe, if this happens, Mumbaikars will be alerted." He added that the temperature is likely to touch 35 degrees Celsius this week.

A yellow alert has been issued for seven districts namely Solapur, Aurangabad, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Akola, Chandrapur and Yavatmal due to rise in temperature for next five days. Solapur, Nanded, Latur and Osmanabad will experience hot weather on Tuesday night, April 2.

Additionally, Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal are expected to face heatwave conditions in isolated pockets. 

Apart from this, rain is predicted in five districts of Maharashtra on Friday, April 5. According to the IMD forecast, Palghar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Aurangabad are expected to receive light rain on Friday, April 5.

Maharashtra is expected to see a 1-2 degree Celsius increase in temperature from April to June, with 3-4 days of heat wave expected in Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha, experts stated.

The weather department has urged citizens to take basic precautions during summer, avoid going out between 12 pm and 4 pm unless necessary, stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothing and seek immediate medical attention if feeling unwell due to heat or heat stroke.
