On June 3, Wednesday, the cyclonic storm, Nisarga hit the coast of Maharashtra, sending the people of the state back into their homes days after they had received respite from the two-month-long lockdown. While no fatalities have been reported so far, the cyclone certainly caused a significant amount of damage. People across the state have been sharing photos and videos of the damage caused by Nisarga.
Raigad and Alibaug have been the most affected regions where the cyclone has made landfall whereas, in Mumbai and Pune, people experienced strong winds and incessant rains. At some places, roofs were seen flying, trees were uprooted from the ground. At one place, a motorbike was seen floating away in the water due to the waterlogging caused by rainfall in Mumbai. Owing to the cyclonic storm, vehicular traffic on the Bandra-Worli Sealink had been restricted.
