The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its forecast, stated that Mumbai can anticipate light rain and thundershowers on Saturday, January 22, reports stated. These weather conditions are expected for a day and thus, Sunday, January 23 is expected to be dry.

Based on narratives, officials have attributed the rain activity to a cyclonic circulation that is likely to form over the southwest Rajasthan on Saturday. In the mean time, night temperatures in Mumbai were seen falling yet again after increasing above 20 degrees Celsius over the last few days

On Wednesday, January 19, the minimum temperature recorded by the IMD's Colaba observatory was 20 degrees which were nearly normal. On the other hand, the Santacruz observatory registered 17.9 degrees which are 0.7 degrees over the normal.

IMD officials were quoted by accounts elucidating on how a fresh active Western disturbance could affect northwest India from January 21. With an induced cyclonic circulation likely to form over southwest Rajasthan on Saturday, said officials.

Officials are also of the opinion that minimum temperatures could fall further next week. Last week, the minimum temperature had fallen to 13.2 degrees the lowest for the season yet.
