According to the latest reports, state Energy Minister Nitin Raut on Monday, April 4, remarked that MSEDCL will put up 50 additional Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout Maharashtra. These will reportedly include 10 in Navi Mumbai, 18 in Pune, six in Thane, six in Nagpur and two each in Nashik, Aurangabad, Solapur, Kolhapur and Amravati.

Based on accounts, the state is looking at an aggregate of 5,000 new EV charging stations throughout Maharadhtra. Some narratives claim that from these, 1,500 will be in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Apart from this, Raut remarked that the cost per kilometre for e-vehicles is very low and thus encouraged citizens to switch to the electric variant for motors.

It has been reported that the MSEDCL, Mahatransco and Mahagenco have undertaken the decision to collaborate with petrol companies to put up EV charging stations on the premises. If this model proves fruitful they will consider increasing the number of EV stations on educational institutions' premises to ensure that students have access to charging.

The Maharashtra government has provided electricity charges at INR 5.50 per unit which is lower than the residential power consumption charges. On the other hand, from 10 pm to 6 am, the rate will be INR 4.50 per unit.

Recently, at the Pune Alternate Fuel Conclave a range of electronic vehicles were kept on display.
