While Mumbaikars woke up to bright and sunny day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate showers in the city and its suburbs for the day, September 23.

However, IMD officials denied the chances of any heavy rainfall in the city. The spells will be sporadic and not intense.

The city continuously experienced moderate showers last week. Therefore, Mumbai for the first time in September witnessed this rare prolonged hill station like weather for the past few days. Meanwhile, on Friday, September 23, the city saw hot and humid weather. Moreover, it has come to light that there is a possibility of a marginal rise in maximum temperature as well over the weekend, said IMD officials.

The IMD’s Santacruz and Colaba observatory, as on 8:30 am today, recorded minimum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 93 per cent. Besides, both observatory, as on 8:30 am, recorded a maximum temperature of 25.1 degrees Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 90 per cent.

Additionally, the IMD bulletin stated that there is a possibility of a monsoon retreat between October 5 and 10 in Mumbai.

Clarifying further, they stated that the retreat would happen around October 8 but as a safety measure IMD announced a five-day window.

For those unversed, last year, the monsoon retreats in Mumbai took place around October 12.
