Mumbai Rains Update: IMD Hints At Monsoon Withdrawal; Moderate Spells For 2 Days

After a brief dry spell, Mumbai is likely to see moderate rains across the city and its suburbs. In addition, several districts of Maharashtra have possibilities of experiencing moderate thunderstorms.

With this, the city also saw a slight dip in the minimum temperatures, whereas the maximum temperatures continued to rise.

While Mumbaikars woke up to partially cloudy skies, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a possibility of light to moderate rains with thunderstorm activities across the city and its neighbourings in the next two days. This is the result of the monsoon withdrawal.

According to the IMD forecast for the next 48 hours, Mumbai will witness general cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/thundershower in the city and suburbs.

As per the weather department, northern parts of Raigad district, Navi Mumbai, Ratnagiri, ghat areas of Pune and Satara have the possibilities of moderate thunderstorms.

On Friday, October 7, as on 8:30 am, the minimum temperature recorded in Santacruz was 26.1 °C and the maximum was 30 °C, also the relative humidity was 87 per cent. While Colaba experienced a minimum temperature of 24.8°C and a maximum temperature of 29.4°C with a relative humidity of 98 per cent.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, October 6, the minimum temperature recorded in Santacruz was 26.5 °C and the maximum was 31.6 °C, also the relative humidity was 85%. While Colaba experienced a minimum temperature of 26.5°C and a maximum temperature of 30.7°C with a relative humidity of 89%.

Moreover, on the same day, according to the data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Mumbai recorded a good Air Quality Index (AQI) with an AQI of 24, while other cities like Delhi, Pune, and Ahmedabad recorded an AQI of 31, 33, and 30 respectively.

Besides, all India severe weather warnings have been issued by IMD for the coming five days. Therefore, other parts of the country too might experience moderate thunderstorms and rainfall in the coming week.
