On Tuesday, September 28, amidst the Cyclone Gulab that weakening into a well-marked low-pressure area over western Vidarbha and its neighbourhood, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy showers is very likely at isolated places in north Madhya Maharashtra and north Konkan on Wednesday, September 29.

In addition, according to reports, on Wednesday, a heavy downpour is also likely at isolated places over Marathwada. Moreover, as per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) district forecast and warning, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Beed, Parbhani, Osmanabad, Latur, Nanded and Hingoli are under yellow alert. This indicates thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with heavy rainfall at isolated places.

On the other hand, in the midst of the monsoons, the officials had earlier informed that the cyclonic storm Gulab over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal moved nearly westwards with a speed of 18 kmph on Sunday, September 26. Therefore, the IMD had earlier issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for Monday, September 27 indicating heavy rainfall spells for the day. Furthermore, a yellow alert had also been issued for Thane and Palghar, whereas an orange alert for Raigad.
