IMD Predicts Good Rainfall Across Maharashtra Between September 4-7

A yellow alert has been issued for all four divisions – Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, North Maharashtra and Vidarbha -- between September 4 to 7 and light to moderate rainfall is expected along with thunder activities and gusty wind.

After a long dry spell in the month of August, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a good rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra between September 5-7. Moreover, issuing a green alert, the IMD has predicted 'light to moderate spells of rain' in Mumbai and its suburbs for today, September 4.

"This system, as per our observations, is expected to form over the north-west of the Bay of Bengal. It is a positive sign for the state. We expect the revival of the monsoon in the next two days," said Anupam Kashyapi, head of the weather forecast division of the IMD.

A yellow alert has been issued for all four divisions – Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, North Maharashtra and Vidarbha -- between September 4 to 7 and light to moderate rainfall is expected along with thunder activities and gusty wind.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the Marathwada region from September 4 to September 6. There is a possibility of lightning and thunderstorms at multiple locations in the region, the officials added.

For Pune, Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur district similar alert has been issued from September 5-7 and the district is likely to experience good rainfall, especially in ghat areas along with thunder activity in isolated places.

However, the entire Vidarbha will also get rainfall between September 4 and September 6, with lightning and thunderstorms at some places. The rainfall activity has already resumed at some places in Vidarbha on Sunday, September 3, with Wardha recording 51 mm, Nagpur 45 mm, Chandrapur 27 mm, Brahmapuri 10 mm, Buldahana 8 mm and Gondia 8 mm, said the officials.

Meanwhile, the island city, eastern and western suburbs received an average rainfall of 2.03 mm, 0.16 mm and 0.51 mm respectively in 24 hours ending at 8 am, the civic body's data showed.
